 1.) Timing:

Keep in mind that most people work Monday through Friday from 9–‐5. Disturbing people at work is not the best way to get their attention. Also, make sure you know when you want your message sent so our client service team can send the text out in enough time in advance so that you can allow for driving/ transportation times for the customer if you want us to manage your campaigns.

 

2.) Value:

Make sure that the discount that you offer, or whatever “incentive” you use to get new text subscribers, is of good value. People will not want to give their phone numbers out unless they have a good reason to do so. This is very important.

 

3.) Integrate:

Mobile works best when tied together with other media like TV, print, radio and live events, etc. You should be putting your unique phone number or keyword IN EVERY form of advertising that you’re already doing. For example, Facebook, Twitter, billboards, flyers, table tents, your website, menu, the list goes on! The opportunities are endless.

 

4.) The law:

You MUST at the end of every message write the words “ReplySTOP2end” Very simple.  Just put that at the end of every text you send out! You always want to give your subscribers a way to “opt-out” and stop receiving messages from your business.

 

5.) Message composition:

Remember, you only have 160 characters in a text so you need to be very concise but clear. Using short cuts are acceptable for text messaging. For instance use the number “2” instead of “To” and “B” instead of “Be”. You saved 2 characters by using 2 and b. You can get some good ideas from this

 

6.) Be timely:

Being timely is huge. You don’t want to send a text incentive out 3 days before your special. That might work with email but texts are read instantly so you want to send your messages out the same day as your special incentive. Inform customers of the sale minutes before your doors open, not days.

 

7.) Make opt-ins viral:

Text messages can be very easily and quickly forwarded. Every now and then ask your subscribers to invite their friends if they like your service and include opt-in instructions such as “Call 215-839-3261 to subscribe to GabText Mobile and receive special discounts”. You will be amazed at how quick your subscriber base grows.
